Top Classic Children's Books in our house

Our youngest, Harvey who is 16 months old has just begun to love being read to at night before bed. Before this past week, he would wiggle all around, turn the pages every second, etc. It was never really fruitful for us to read to him before. Our oldest, on the other hand, has loved being read to since he was a baby. This fact reminds me that every child is different. The books I would like to share are our current favorites as we head into Christmas, but not every one is Christmas-themed. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury

Stanley really loves this book so much. He loves to make the sounds “swishy swashy, swishy swashy.” It is fun to make those sounds together and talk about the pictures. We love to see the kids take off their shoes to cross the river. It is so cute for both boys and girls.

Biscuit’s Christmas by Alyssa Satin Capucilli

We love the scratch-and-sniff book about Biscuit the dog celebrating Christmas with his family. There are several scratch and sniff stickers in the book to enjoy the smell of a tree, hot chocolate and apple cider. So cute! They pick out a tree, decorate it, have hot cocoa and make gingerbread cookies. It is the perfect book to read while you get ready for the holiday!

Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site by Sherri Duskey Rinker and Tom Lichtenheld

Stanley got this book last year for Christmas from his Aunt and has grown to love it. He is a little boy that loves diggers, dump trucks and cement mixers. The book has cute rhymes for all of the construction vehicles. Each one is tucked in tight, some with their blanket or stuffed animal. It would even be a cute book for girls who love to be outside. Go pick up the book for a stocking stuffer or good read.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault

This is a classic book that we read to both boys. The bright colors of the alphabet captivate them. We have read this one so many times that we know most of the book itself. Jared and I quote the book sometimes as we talk to the boys. It is so adorable. Hold your babies close and read this touching book to them.
